Client Testimonial: Planning For Your Family’s Future

Client Testimonial: Planning My Family’s Financial Future

At Mountain Financial, we understand that many people think of financial planning as something that concerns only the very wealthy. But honestly, they have it backward. Good financial planning is how many people become wealthy, or at the very least, financially comfortable.

In all the years of schooling that people go through, one thing that is rarely taught is personal financial management. Yet people’s lives are filled with financial challenges: how to pay for schooling, the best way to afford a car, ways to manage debt, what is required to be able to afford to buy a house, and how to approach planning for retirement. Even monthly budgeting can be a challenge.

The current student debt crisis is an ironic lesson in financial education that people should take to heart. Too often, people who have completed high school and college have yet to learn how to manage their finances sufficiently. This makes paying off their debts from obtaining costly education difficult.

It is for this reason that we started Mountain Financial. We know that financial wisdom, let alone financial literacy, is not in everyone’s skillset. Accordingly, we offer financial services to our clients that will help them achieve their long-term goals for themselves and their families through financial planning advice and services. We can provide the education and insight that is often lacking, helping them understand how their money can work for them.

Meet AW, One of Our Clients

One of our clients, AW, approached us through a personal connection – he knows one of our advisors. AW came to Mountain Financial when he realized that he had achieved some financial stability – that is, he had more discretionary income. The issue was: how best to allocate this income to create the future he wanted for his family. Wisely, AW recognized that the time to begin learning and planning is when you are young.

AW is in his 30s, married with two children, and an administrator for a local church. As noted above, what prompted him to approach Mountain Financial was a recognition that he did not have a plan in place and did not know enough about finances to put together his own plan:

“As my wife and I got more stable in our finances, we wanted to talk to someone who could guide us and help lay a good foundation for the future.”

AW ultimately found that Mountain Financial provided him with the help he needed and more: an education in personal finance. This is consistent with Mountain Financial’s philosophy. Our goal is not to tell you what to do or to take control of your finances and ask you to “just trust us.” Our goal is to give our clients the tools they need to understand and manage their financial future, which means building good relationships and maintaining open communication.

“It was incredibly helpful. It helped me picture my finances in a whole new way. Josh [Heikkila] was always able to chat and explained complicated matters well. Josh was with us step by step.

AW has just begun his journey toward building financial security for his family, but he is optimistic about where he is headed – even in an economic climate that presents unique challenges. He sees his relationship with Mountain Financial as collaborative and plans to continue to utilize the services of Mountain Financial.

“I regularly check in with Josh about new thoughts and opportunities. I have started a new job and so with the new income he has helped us prepare well.”

AW’s experience is one he was happy to share, and he has already recommended our services to other people he knows.
